Details
Diptic #1 was the first "micro-totem" design. Standing a massive 12 inches tall, each member of Diptic #1 is as complex (and took as long to create) as a full size totem. Intended for the desktop, Diptic #1 incorporates playful organic members and tribal cuts.
Both members of Diptic #1 focus on the re-integration of breakoff forms into a fluid whole. The right member criss-crosses and threatens to recombine at various points along the way. The left member sends out flame-like members that highlight the intricate figuring of the wood.
Both members of Diptic #1 were finely sanded and then coated in a shellac before being buffed to a mirror finish. The black acrlyic base is both simple and elegant.
