Details
Standing 16 feet tall, the sinewy form of Bela is carved from two 8-foot pieces of solid oak. Bela was completed over the course of approximately 6 months and was carved entirely by hand with a spoke shave. Because of the use of a spoke shave, Bela's form is inherently more 3-dimensional than the other totems.
Bela's twin spires share a rhythmic interchange throughout the entire totem, ultimately culminating with tangental conact of a shared sphere. The sphere levitates between the spires, finally bridging the gap so nearly closed several times before.
